Standard Concert Radio Upgrade to Bluetooth
Hi everyone, I've been lurking around this forum for a while but I think this may be my first post, so I thought I'd make it a positive one!
I've a '99 A4 B5 Avant with a Concert cassette radio and I wanted to upgrade it to one with bluetooth or at least an aux input, but then I found that it is a non-standard size, and then I couldn't find one that would look in keeping with the rest of my interior and to cut a long story short I just drove around with a tape adaptor to my phone and put up with the crappy sound. Then I saw this adaptor on ebay and took a punt:
Bluetooth Adapter MP3 AUX CD changer Audi Concert Symphony Chorus 1 2 II #5961 | eBay
It is basically plug and play and replaces/emulates the built in CD player in the boot. I also needed a cheap plug splitter like the following but you may not depending on the wires:
20-PIN Verteiler Adapter Kabel Kabelbaum für Radio Concert Chorus Symphony 2 II | eBay
If you don't have a CD player enabled I think you may need to turn this feature on using VCDS. I had the CD cable already in place but no CD player and mine worked right away.
Once in it's really fast to connect to my phone, comes on and off as the CD would (if you turn the radio on without the keys in, it still works for e.g.) and keeps the dash looking standard, and sounds waaaay better than my cassette adaptor. In short I'm so pleased with it I thought I'd come on here and share.
Oh and I have absolutely NO connection to the ebay seller (who is based in Germany), I'm just very pleased and having spent a while trawling forums looking for this solution I know I'm not the only one who this could help.
