Audi A5 2.0 TDI - Post Emissions Software Update
Hi Folks,
Apologies if this is in the wrong place etc but a trawl of the web brought nothing up at all for this topic.
I have an A5 2.0 TDI S-Line quattro and have recently had the updated software installed. Since this I have noticed some odd behaviour with the car. It could of course be completely coincidental but I wanted to find out what other users experiences were and if I have a potential problem. Plate is 64.
The main thing I have noticed after having the update done is the fans at the front of the car are constantly running after switch off, they seem to be on for an awfully long time. Having had two brand new A5s since 2012 I have never noticed this before, I'm pretty sure they were never on after turning off the engine before this update.
I am fairly convinced I'm getting through more fuel. I have no scientific evidence on this and will have to study the millage usage etc, but again it could all be in my head. What would be the best way to monitor this? Lastly I have a smell of burning rubber in the boot. I noticed this yesterday it was pretty strong and had me fairly worried. Any thoughts before I give Audi a call? I'm still under warranty.
Cheers all,
Aj.

Sounds like the car is doing a DPF regen and you aren't letting it complete or finish.
The fans continuing is the cars way of cooling everything down during the DPF process (if you read up on DPF you'll see the temperatures reached in the exhaust).
I've driven my 2.0 177 A4 for a few thousand miles after the update and haven't seen/heard/felt any differences.
