No air coming through passenger side air vent.
I just realised there is no air coming out of the passenger side air vent on my 2010 A6.
I thought the air was a little bit warmer than usual so i had it regassed.
After checking more thoroughly there is no air coming from the left side air vent and the drivers side air is a little bit warmer than the centre vents which are cool.
Its not the climatronic but the standard aircon with the 4 dials.
Any ideas?
Something simple would be nice ;) :(
Thanks

This problem reminds me the 4F's common mixer problem, please refer here for more details:

I hope, this will help you.
Re: No air coming through passenger side air vent.
AT, i don't think that is his fault.
XsApollo you need to get the fault code for the HVAC unit read as you may have a flap motor not working.
Is it only one vent?
Re: No air coming through passenger side air vent.
As above, it does sound to me like one of the potentiometer/actuators may be jammed, they work on a worm drive/gear system and often get jammed. Not generally a tricky job to do if this is the cause but someone with VCDS is the way forward for diagnosis and adaption after repair.
Re: No air coming through passenger side air vent.
AT thanks for the link i will have a read later.
Dan and Deutschwerx,
Yea its only the 1 vent , i really don't wanna go the Dealers first thing to get a code read and i don't know anybody with VCDS.
Do ye know how to get at these motors? is it a dash out job?
I will have a more thorough look around the net for anything about these motors and see what happens.
2 Audis i have had in a row now with Aircon issues :S
Re: No air coming through passenger side air vent.
Generally just a glovebox out job, perhaps you could pull it out, active all the controls and see if one is jamming/not moving. Obviously VCDS is the way forward but worth a look this way if your pretty good at this kinda thing ;-)
Re: No air coming through passenger side air vent.
Good? probably not.
Willing to try? Oh yes ;-)
I'll try that so and see what i come up with.
Cheers

Well, of course you are right, the "no air symptome" can be as obvious as the ventillator is not working for that side, and that's all. That was my first thought too. However, please refer to this sentence:
"After checking more thoroughly there is no air coming from the left side air vent and the drivers side air is a little bit warmer than the centre vents which are cool."
Which can be rooted to the problem, I was pointed out. According to this, I could imagine, that the mixer, or some interior part of the climate unit closes the airflow for the passanger side.
I'm also agree with you, that these kind of problems can be caused by a stucked ventillator, or a far worse mechanical/electrical problem. So first it should be checked by a professional service or a friendly VCDS scan to decide whether a known climate unit failure causes the problem, or not.
