Anti Car Jacking
Right, I'm not putting this post out because I think this is as prevalent in the UK as much as other places on our wonderful planet but what do people think of options like this?
I saw some news article of a guy who had is Q7 nicked off his drive when they beat him and took his keys.. unbelievable.. I feel for the guy.
But with lots of us spending our hard earned on money on our cars does any one have any thoughts on this? I'm not talking about steering locks and so forth when your away from the vehicle but more if your near it, doors open, road side, car park type setup...
Some might say I'm also over worrying, but I can't help it right now... damn internet.
For example there are car options where if you dont have a transponder on you in the car it cuts the fuel (keeping it separate to your keys of course). or a GPS tracker that you can text to cut the fuel... just examples.
Thoughts?

Re: Anti Car Jacking....
buy a crappy old car that no one wants to steal, problem solved..
thing is, they will stop at nothing. whats more important, your car thats covered by insuranace or your own well being. is it worth being stabbed so you keep your car ? i think not. let them take it but have a tracker fitted so the old bill can find them.. there was the case of the finger print coded car, so they kidnapped the owner and later chopped his finger off.

Re: Anti Car Jacking....
or rig up yoor own system where from a remote you can shut the engine down, lock the doors and then release some sleeping gas into the car, or fire some itching power canisters for a laugh, then sit back and wait for the police to arrive

Re: Anti Car Jacking....
Or you could have a heart attack? Get cancer? Get run over by a truck? You know, something serious. Be realistic, how often is it going to happen? Probably more chance of winning the lottery! Why worry about it.

Re: Anti Car Jacking....
A few years ago a Cortina was left for repairs at the garage I worked in at the time. The mechanic doing the job was working overtime and at about 8pm decided to start replacing the rear shockers on the Cortina. A short while later there was loud hammering on the garage doors. The car owner! Turned out he was a TV engineer and had wired his doors and boot lid to a transmitter, if they were opened he got a signal on his receiver. He hadn't switched off his boot circuit and thought a burglar was at work in the garage. Don't know if the device was legal though.
