To be or not to be a user
On my bit of name hunting for my post on username meanings:
https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/s...?t=7527&page=7
I found out that:
Of the 18,697 members in this little old forum (:beerchug:)
9,523 'members' have never posted.
a further 3,280 'members' have been a 1 post wonder.
a staggering 17,612 have less than 10 to their name.
6,365 have not popped in here for over six months.
14,652 have not been in here for over a month.
17,078 have not been in here for over a week which means that 1,619 people have !! in one week.
In saying this if just one person is helped by just one post either written or read then we have done our job and deserve a pat on the back (not the bum)

............and the most likely people to comment on stuff in this section are likely to come from the top 40 or so posters.

Thats Right...
Just to let you know, we have had 300 new users in the last 3 days..
Rick
Re: To be or not to be a user
The numbers only tell one story, 300 newbies in 3 days is good, 21000 users is great, however as prolfe has highlighted, 9000 odd members have never posted - well that says something else.
The forum (any forum) could have 500000 members, but without them contributing, forums wouldn't grow, so really, we only need thank 50% of our members.
What would a magasine reviewer / critic make of it i wonder?
Just looked myself
this is the Stats info off the home page

now go here
https://www.vwaudiforum.co.uk/forum/m...posts&page=319
this is the members list sorted in reverse post order at the bottom it says
Showing results 9541 to 9570 of 18727
so why is there a difference of 2563 between the 2 figures highlighted in bold above?
infact more than 50% have not posted.
I tried to work out what 9543 is as a %age of 18727 but i couldn't figure it out.

Well I guess someone had nothing better to do today;)
This applies to ALL the forums out there!
But, in answer to your question, out of the 21290 members, we have 18727 GENUINE REGISTERED members, the remainder are members that failed to put the correct email details, so there account never got fully activated... banned users, administration and staff...
IN TOTAL 21290 members.
Using your comments above, I have looked at SeatCupra.net, how do you explain 23423 members, or in member list 6113!!!!! works the same on any site,
I suggest you take no notice of these figures, there are more important things to worry about in life, because I KNOW the site is getting better and better from other statistics I get which are more accurate. Just check the Google positions for the site....
VW forum ..... No:1
Audi forum..... No:2
Volkswagen forum... No:1
Passat forum..... No:1
A4 forum.... No:2
Seat forum (new venture)... No: 7
Skoda forum (new venture)..No:4
Re: To be or not to be a user
And to think I stumbled in here.......
Audi Forum Number 2
:biglaugh:
Have to try and get it to No 1
:D
Re: To be or not to be a user
I think a lot of the long term stats dont mean much really..
What you really need to know is that over the last month or so we have been averaging around 250-300 people online at any one time and the new member count is rocketing on a daily basis.
overall, in the last 6-10 months this site has nearly doubled with traffic...

Re: To be or not to be a user
when i first joined, the online user count stood at 196 ish, now, on a regular basis 200 - 400 people can be viewing even if the majority are guests.
onwards and upwards i say.
Re: To be or not to be a user
All beacuse it's a great site.
I've just been reading a 32 page thread on the whole diesel vs petrol thing across different makes.
And
It makes me proud to be in here as that particular forum is overun with fat old snobs in their petrol Beemers. quite sad really as the VAG people in there are being made to leave because of the comments and threats being made.
Public forums are for people to share there own experiences, knowledge, opinions and thoughts whilst understanding that other people might not agree and are entitled to say so.
If anyone else wants to read this other thread then let me know and i'll post it up.
Oh, and i'm only a member here.

Thanks guys for the comments, I know that the Team and Myself put in allot of time and effort to make sure the site is friendly and lively. We hope this encourages great debate and knowledge sharing.
Your contribution and that of all members is greatly appreciated.
When i joined it would take 3 to 4 days for a response or not get one at all, nowadays most posts get at least one response if not more. This can only be attributed to the great members the site has attracted and long may it continue:D
