power loss, possible turbo vanes?

have a 1.9 2001 passat sport, the problem is theres no power, its runing in limp mode... ive been searching online and tryed the mr muscle cleaning method... after moving the actuator for about 5 times every 15 minutes in the space of 2 hours i rebuilt it all and took it for a drive.. it didnt seem to help.


i returned and moved the actuator a few more times, and took it for a drive.. it seemed to run abit better upto 3rd gear then returned to limp mode..


am thinking it might needed cleaned once again, any ideas/help would be appreciated

no vcds has been used, only a cheap reader that picked up no codes

sounds to me like the turbo just isn't working at all. right, whilst you look at the actuator, get someone to start the engine. the actuator rod should move as soon as the engine starts to pull the vanes into max position. stop the engine and the actuator should drop. also watch the asv valve and ensure thats open and only snaps shut as the engine is turned off.

yes, its not when running in limp.. it was working for a short time when i returned and moved the acutator then returned to limp mode. asv valve, that up next to the egr?

yes, asv is part of the egr.

check N 75 valve that provides vacuum to, and operates the turbo actuator is working as well

is this located on the inner wing, above the air box/maf?

Check all the piping as well from n75 to turbo.

How about doing a fault code to see why it is going into limp mode... Does it reset out of limp each time you turn the engine off and back on again or is it permanently down on power?

Got one code, I did also unplug maf other day..

It is more than likely that all you have is a vacuum leak in the turbo/EGR/anti shudder vacuum system. One common point on the 3B are leaks in the plastic lines where they rub such as here

Carefully disconnect the vacuum source pipe and apply a vacuum, you should not be able to draw air continuolsy.
