97 (N) Polo 1.0L... adding gearbox oil

Hi,

I've recently experienced some odd noises emitting from the gearbox when changing gears and other times, and I have been reliably informed that the problem is a lack of gearbox oil. I've since purchased the correct oil but am now at a loss as to where exactly it should go! (sorry, I'm a bit of a mechanical newbie..)

I was told to look for a 17mm bolt about halfway down the side of the gearbox but I'm having trouble locating it tbh. I'd certainly appreciate any pointers that anyone could give!

its the same as mine. on the FRONT of the gearbox is a large hex shaped nut vertically between two star bolts.
