Not Much Heat
hi all,
I noticed a couple of days ago that my heater only gets luke warm, even on 'HI' setting.
Temp is rising as usual (about 5/10 mins till up) and sitting pretty, bang on 90 and not moving.
My usual guy I use reckons it could be thermostat related, and he's taking a look Thursday,
just wondered if any of you guys had any ideas.
cheers
Mark.
PS - what is 'ECON' on heater controls, what does it mean/do?

Re: Not Much Heat
ECON doesn't use the air con side of the cooling/heating system.
regarding the Luke warm air from the heater, does it matter where you have the airflow directed?
im just wondering if one of the direction/ mixing flaps is not operating.

Re: Not Much Heat
Is the feed and return pipes through the bulkhead hot. These feed the heater matrix. Regards Peter

Re: Not Much Heat
hi Mowerman,
thanks for the reply....
as for the flaps, I get a good blast from whichever direction I choose (screen, face or floor)
and whichever is selected, no airflow from others...... and same luke warm temp,
so I reckon flaps are working just fine.
its booked in to have matrix cleaned/changed....

Re: Not Much Heat
hi pete,
thanks for reply,
I think so, i'm sure the guy who I take it to said so......engine temp right at 90 degrees, but they changed thermostat anyway, but found a lot of muck around it..:(
it's booked in to have matrix cleaned/changed, they said it's 100% the problem.

Re: Not Much Heat
Where has the muck come from. I have a 1998 A6 and it has had two coolant changes of G12+ and the coolant is clean. Changing the matrix will empty your wallet. A good back flush through the matrix would be the first port of call. Regards Peter
