cleaning ingrained plastics
Hey all,
It's the pain again. I'm trying to clean up the door/sill and centre console plastics in my 2005 A6. The plastics and panels have ingrained dirt.
What do you all use to get the best results. Firstly to get the dirt out, then to shine up the plastics?
I've tried Meguires interior detailing, doesn't seem to do anything!!!
Thanks all.
Re: cleaning ingrained plastics
Depends on what the dirt is to some extent.
If regular dirt, I use dilute Surfex HD (other all purpose cleaners may be fine, but I have had good experience with this) with a sponge ( i have a fairly fine textured sponge - not sure where from - rather than the big holey ones) or microfibre to ensure it gets into the grain of the plastic. Then clean microfibre in clean bucket of water, wring, wipe. Dry microfibre wipe after that. I don't want shiny plastics so I leave it at that. You can apply another trim product for shine if you like, but it will work better once the surface is really clean.

I've always used autoglym interior shampoo on dirty plastics followed by a coat of Autoglym Vinyl Rubber care. You can't go wrong with Autoglym
