2005 a6 check button
Hi,
Finally after years of longing I have myself a a6 2005 2.0tdi, old but gold to me. Just worried cause I cannot find a manual anywhere and none came with the car, but when I press the check button I see the following three images on the dash. Can someone shed some light on this, i'm losing it!
Thanks in advance,
T

Re: 2005 a6 check button
It's checking the systems which are shown on the DIS. The car does a self check each time it's started and if there is a problem then it will display the error(s) automatically.
Nothing to worry about.

Re: 2005 a6 check button
The check light also works when you want confirmation of what the symbol means if one pops up. For example, mine currently has a blown fog light fuse at the rear. It will usually come up within 10 seconds of starting the car with the symbol, and a message stating "RIGHT REAR FOG LIGHT" - but you may not always get a chance to read this message, so pressing the CHECK button lets you know which fault it has found compared to the symbol. Useful if you have more than 1 fault too as you can press CHECK on each symbol in case you missed it earlier (tends to beep at the same time).
As said above, if there are no errors, it will just cycle through.
