Recently acquired Audi 80 cabriolet
Hi guys. Picked up my first Audi the other day. Always had VW but thought I'd change. So here she is...
Anyway a few little niggling problems how you can help out...
Rear wing mounted aerial doesn't go up or down ( can hear the motor going but it's like the cogs don't work)
Missing front towing eye grill piece
Electric windows are all over the place. Button in middle works everything as it should. Passenger and driver controls work completely as and when they want to. Vanity mirrors don't work. Bulbs are fine checked them. Whining when turning in full lock at low speeds
Other than that she's in good nick. :) so yeh anyhelp would be gratefully appreciated
Re: Recently acquired Audi 80 cabriolet
I can't help, but what a lovely motor! Hope you enjoy it.
Re: Recently acquired Audi 80 cabriolet
Whining when turning may be low power steering oil or failed pump,
Special fluid required in system
Not sure but window problem may be fractured cables where door opens at pillar.
lights may be fuse
Re: Recently acquired Audi 80 cabriolet
I have the same issue with the aerial, it's the cog not biting, they are nylon so wear out, I spent a long time finding a replacement, I woukd say an engineer could do a simple fix if given the part to replace. There are also many generic replacements but I prefer original in this instance.
The vanity mirror is another identical issue, I think it's just the connections in the clip (it was on mine) they had got a film of tarnish on, cleaned then and they worked.
Hope something I said helps. :-)
Re: Recently acquired Audi 80 cabriolet
Forgot to say about the windows, I also replaced the individual rocker switches, about £11 new from a local VAG supplier (tps).
Re: Recently acquired Audi 80 cabriolet
The only ongoing issue I have is the inconsistent fuel gauge, I replaced the gauge, no different, now have a new sender unit with the float on it, hopefully that will help rather than playing fuel gauge roulette!!
Re: Recently acquired Audi 80 cabriolet
The fuel gauge and usually the temp gauge aswell are normally intermittent due to failed/cracked solder joints in the back of the binnacle, plenty of threads on this one, good luck
