A6 Fuel Consumption

Hi,

New to the site and a happy A6 TDI 2.0 S-Line owner since bought from new in 2012. I've a question about fuel consumption because I'm sure I should be getting better economy that I am.

I drive 20 miles to work along the M1, stick to 65-70 mph (no traffic) and if I really try hard I can get up to 50mpg, but it's more likely around 45. Did a 70 mile run down the A1 (mostly flat) over the weekend, didn't get much above 75mph and struggled to get 47mpg.

I've never had any better than 55mpg on a run. I don't thrash it, accelerate hard and keep it mostly in 'Efficient' mode. I don't expect anywhere near the published figures but thought I'd easily get an average of 55+ mpg. Was I expecting too much??

Would love to know what other people are getting. Car has now done 25k miles and the economy hasn't changed much since new - though it does get slightly better in the summer as you'd expect.

Any thoughts? I checked the usual like tyre pressures, tracking ect.

Real world MPG 2.0TDI

I couldn't see any mention of the Ultra engine in that 41 page thread, unless I missed it.

because for a 2012 car mention of the Ultra (or Daz Special) is irrelevant however,

I wish there was some accurate real world consumption for the 3.0 Bitdi

Mine is pretty good-about 38mpg on average although the long term says 42.7. Dropped a bit over winter as expected but got 47mpg (DIS) on the run home last night in slow traffic. Very happy as it is about 20% better than on the C6 I had and much more fun.

Scott is yours a 3ltr? Also can I ask what type of driving do you do? Is it mainly motorway or A roads or town or a good mixture of all? How many miles have you done now?

I am sorry I didnt see it was....I guess the question is what PS does your car have Scott, 218, 272 or 320?

Again, if it's a bi he won't be either of the first two. Now will he?
