A4 Avant Front suspension clunk/click
hi
Probably been raised before
I have a 2003 TDI A4 Avant
I've recently heard a small clunk/click when reversing onto my drive
I've checked all areas in front suspension (nearside) with no obvious reasons seen.
also noted a slight grating noise when steering away from kerb at low speed.
any pointers would be appreciated.
thank

Rear differential, rear end gears or bearing. Check fluid and smear on paper and shine a light to check for shavings... that would be my first thing.

There's no mention that this is a quattro, rather it's a conventional 2WD drive car.
My advice, raise car and grab front wheels at 10-to-2 position and check for lateral movement. Could be a bearing but you would hear wheel rumble or whine at 40mph. More likely to be split CV boot and worn CV joint which will click at full lock. Spin wheel and listen for ant tell-tale friction noise.
Other contenders are worn tie-rod end or upper control arms. What's the mileage?
