Seen these on eBay, spoke to the seller who says it does everything that the rosscom cable can do although it can't be updated. Has anyone got or had experience with it as I want one just to do some basic codeing.

I'd remove that link before the mods do. It's not genuine
i have reported it, damned knock off tat that will probably short circuit your ecu .
As stated above, a vast majority of leads sold on auction sites at that sort of money that say they work with the latest software are illegal copies of the genuine Ross Tech units... This is the reason they cannot be updated, and as also stated above you stand a chance of causing damage to your car.
You can purchase "dumb interfaces" that will work with a very old version of VCDS using the VCDS- LITE software, but this is not as good as the full version. Genuine leads which have full support cost around £250, speak to NHN on the site ;)
In addition, you do not get the excellent support that Ross Tech offer there users ;)
We only allow the promotion/selling of genuine Ross Tech units on the site :)

I saw a similar cable on a German site recently it was €20.00 so about £15.00. That guy is even ripping you off on rip off products. I sent a link on the German one to Bruce
ross tech give an invaluable service to us vag owners. no other marque has such an affordable computer system available, anywhere in the world , with after sales support to beat even john lewis. use it or lose it.

Cheers for the heads up and advice guys. Knew it was worth asking sounds like it could have cost me a lot! Looks like eBay has seen it's a fake as the item has now been removed from site which is good news, didn't realise there was fakes will save up for the real deal then.
