Y 2000 1.8 estate,battery drain issue.
Hello everyone.
I would like to know if anyone knows what current is flowing from the battery when car is switched off.
The reason I am asking is my wife`s estate keeps getting a flat battery after not being used for more than 2 days.
I found a current drain of 0.56 amp which I have traced to the central locking and convenience system ecu.
If the red wire on the relay plate is disconnected and fuses 14 and 38 are removed the battery drain is zero.
The ecu was replaced last year as the old one was wet and wiring was corroded,I replaced both and sorted pollen filter leak, the ecu is dry and everything works as it should, even the remote key fob. This problem as only just started to appear in the last month or so.
The battery was changed for a new one and when this went flat a second new battery(Bosch) was fitted.
Any readings from some one with a similar model would be greatly appreciated as this is giving me a massive headache.

I had a mate come round with vag com on a laptop. This is what it picked up in the way of faults.

He was pretty impressed as most sacks of sh*t (his phrase not mine)he has tested had nowhere as many faults.
He did not have time to go through it all properly but said he would run a mile if a car he went to buy had this many faults.
Sadly we are stuck with said sack so any advice would be appreciated.
Having to disconnect battery every night is becoming a pain but its the only way round it at the moment.
He reckons that the ccm is not going into sleep mode due to the faults in its system and that is why it drains the battery.
I reckon a shotgun would put the whole bloody thing to sleep but he said just move it on.
Its a shame as I personally run a 1997 19tdi B5 which other than a turbo and the ever failing front suspension arm has been reliable for 11 years and I love it to bits.
Re: Y 2000 1.8 estate,battery drain issue.
the no communications bit sounds as if it might be a wiring issue? are all the door looms plugged in correctly and the wiring ok? one thing that might be drawing current is if that heated mirror is staying powered? might be worth temp disconnecting it.
with something like this will take a bit of trial and error.
Re: Y 2000 1.8 estate,battery drain issue.
There`s plenty of error!
I found what i think is the bonnet catch micro switch hanging free so i have put a cable tie round it for now to see if it stops the drain.
The heaters in the mirrors are open circuit so i presume the elements have blown.
She does not want it anymore and i cant blame her, will live with having to take battery lead off and run it till mot is up.
There are a few things i can use off it before its weighed in.
