Replacing dipped beam bulbs
Anyone replaced their dipped beam bulbs ? Finding it difficult to get my fat fingers far enough in to remove mine. I can get the plastic cap off but then can't twist the bulb holder.
Anyone got instructions for removing the whole headlamp, if it comes to it ?
Thanks....
Re: Replacing dipped beam bulbs
Most people including myself would go in through the wheel arch liner if access is restricted.
Re: Replacing dipped beam bulbs
I have and did it with my fingers and determination, much easier on the 7 that the 6. I made a tool for the 6 which was a short piece of dowel with a slot cut in it.
Re: Replacing dipped beam bulbs
Although the space is restricted, especially on the left hand side, it is certainly possible to change the H7 bulbs without too much difficulty. My son (with average sized hands) changed both of my OEM bulbs for Osram Nightbreaker Plus Gold Edition in about five or six minutes. In all honesty there shouldn't be the need to go in through the wheel arch let alone remove the headlight.
As an additional note - the upgrade mentioned above is well worth the minimal effort involved and makes a huge difference.
Re: Replacing dipped beam bulbs
Thanks - those are exactly the bulbs I've got lined up as replacements, and I have 4 children of different sizes that I can put to work.....
Re: Replacing dipped beam bulbs
Sounds like you've got it sorted then - I'm delighted with the Nightbreakers, fine for me.
Re: Replacing dipped beam bulbs
The nightbreaker unlimited is also a good option.

Re: Replacing dipped beam bulbs
Does anyone have any tips on how to do this? I've managed to turn the holder anti-clockwise to loosen, but can't pull it out. Is much force required or is there a knack?
Thanks!
Re: Replacing dipped beam bulbs
No force required at all, should almost fall out. Check turned fully and cajole with fingertips. Did our Golf in about 5mins inc changing the bulbs.
Re: Replacing dipped beam bulbs
Definitely no force required, just some dexterity to work in the limited space. Did mine this afternoon with no problems.
