Views and opinions A4 Avant

		Hello There
Just here to pick your brains guys...my brother is considering buying a 2013 A4 Avant 2.0 Tdi (163ps) Technik and would like to hear any opinions/ views and insider knowledge you may have regarding this model ..things like dealer servicing (costs!!) ...reliabilty....common issues...and really any do's and dont's with regard to this model?
I 'm part of another VM Forums so apologies that this question isn't more specific but I know that the Forums are the best place to go for info!
Many Thanks in advance for any input!
Danny.

The only do's and dont's I can suggest are DO buy one, DON'T miss out on a good deal on one if he gets offered one, DO enjoy ownership of a cracking car, and DO get him to join the best VWAudi forum one the net :) - we will ensure that he is welcomed with open arms.
Seriously though, these are fantastic cars, the running costs are not horrendous (even dealer servicing isn't all that bad, especially once the car is three years old or more), and although there is the odd common issue with them (DPF pressure sensor, DMF failure) these are not specific to these cars alone, and are unlikely to be a worry to your brother as everything is covered by warranty for the first three years.

They're a fantastic car, I've had both Saloon and Avant flavours on loan and couldn't fault both of them. Lovely inside, nice exterior and held the road well and of course build quality second to none. Being a 2013 he's gonna get full benefit of the Audi Warranty should anything go wrong which I doubt rarely will bar a DPF pressure sensor which is a common fault on all modern diesel cars, not just the A4.
Nothing to worry about buying a B8, in the week I had in the Saloon and 2 months I had in the Avant, I would recommend one to anybody.
When the time comes to trade my A6, the B8 Avant is at the top of my replacement list as I actually prefer the shape of the Avant over the Saloon.

Thanks for the replies guys and he'll be glad to hear the good news and yeah DPF's are an issue on most if not all modern diesels. ....immensely over-engineered exhaust part if you ask me..its the same story on the Ford forum I'm on. Thanks 4 the pics too fat-controller and A6 Chris.

I would echo what Chris said. For me the Avant is definitely the one to have, more practical if you have family, and flexible if you have stuff to lug about. Also, the Avant IS the sexier shaped A4 (sorry saloon owners ;))
Servicing from the dealers is pretty reasonable to be honest, my local dealer will always price match if I can get genuine Audi parts replaced cheaper by a local Audi independent. The fixed price servicing is very reasonable too. You can't go wrong!

One my 2nd B8 and can't fault them. This is the latest one in Moonlight Blue. I also think the Avant looks better than the saloon and is much more practical (the last car was the saloon). Privacy glass helps the with the look too.

Cheers guys...... exactly the the sort of replies I was hoping for ...although as part of TF I do know how frustrating it is when 'general questions are asked...I know us guys like to get our teeth into something lol lovely pics and the Avant is somewhere between the saloon and and a full blown estate...got to agree..... it is sexy ....despite my Fordness
