The time is now - A6 ordered
After 9 months of indecision, a lot of reading this forum, and a bit of saving up, I am ordering today. I am glad I waited til MY14, especially if it is true you can use the bluetooth as well as the car SIM for the navigation at the same time.
On order:
Audi A6 3.0 (245) TDI Quattro S Tronic Saloon
Daytona Grey (6Y*)
Valcona Leather (N1V)
Stock wheels
Options:
Tech Pack Advanced (WB6), includes:MMI Navigation Plus (PNQ)
Driver's Information System (DIS) with 7" colour display (9Q8)
Mobile telephone preparation - High with Audi connect (9ZW).
Audi Music Interface (UF7)
Audi adaptive cruise control with Stop&Go function including pre-sense front (PCG)
Audi side assist including pre-sense rear (PCH)
Audi active lane assist (PCB)
Exterior mirrors (6XE)
Head-up display (KS1)
Heated Front Seats (4A3) <--- last minute addition
Lighting package (QQ1) <--- last minute addition
Storage package (PAC) <--- last minute addition
Speed limit display (QR9)
Rear side airbags (4X4)
Tracking preparation (7G9)
75-litre fuel tank (0M5)
Options that were originally on the list but pulled at the final decision:
LED Headlamps - I think the Bi-Xenons will be just fine
Deluxe Climate Control - Would have preferred the digitial display but seemed expensive compared to the other options I threw in at the last minute.
Probably September for delivery.
Re: The time is now - A6 ordered
That, young Sir is one heck of a spec!! sounds lovely. is there anything in the options list you Missed! Agree about the LED setup. I would have likes the deluxe aircon myself but the missus was starting to get that look on her face again and I do like my shirts ironed these days! Well done. Hope you don't have to wait to long.
Re: The time is now - A6 ordered
Great spec, also agree about the LED Headlamps bit too much bling IMHO and Bi-Zenons are superb! Daytona Grey superb choice (not that I'm baised or anything!), Tech pack looks tasty, I didn't go for the AMI this time as the bluetooth streaming from the i-phone works very well and there's always the SD card. Hope you enjoy it when it arrives, you are in for a treat!
Regards
Dave

No sports seats? They're only £370 extra if you're having heated seats and jolly comfortable they are too!

Should have said I have specced the S Line so I believe Sports seats are standard.
Re: The time is now - A6 ordered
Now have a delivery date (1st week of Sep) and a registration number - can't wait!
Re: The time is now - A6 ordered
Only one suggestion - rather than than 6XE - I would suggest 6XK - you get auto dimming and stops you getting blinded by car behind you. The rear view mirror already does this, so this extends the function to the side mirrors....
Regardless of you taking the suggestion or not, I am sure that you will really enjoy the car - especially since you have the extra power and quattro capability.. the part I hated most was waiting for the my car to be delivered.....!!

I always find the waiting and anticipation by far more exciting than the ownership a year in! I am in the same boat with a very similar spec'd biTdi Avant ordered for 1st Sept delivery, build week 33 but I have not yet sought confirmation of delivery. Out of interest what was your quoted and actual build week?
Of your options and those called out above I had some personal debates. Stock wheels, I really wanted the PQS's they really make the car look meaty, but after much deliberation have stuck (not settled my mind) on the standard 18", a decision based partly on cost and mostly on everyone at the dealership telling me it will be a more comfortable ride.
I considered the heads up display, but decided the price was too hefty and I made myself choose between this and the sports diff which I ordered. Every time I see images with the heads up I have a slight bit of envy, and I get the value of knowing speed without having to look down. All said I drive on roads I know and only do 10k a year, if I feel the need I might get a pogo.
The speed limit display, this one I like, I see big value in the objective but what I don't understand is the value over the speed limit already advised from the mapping system/GPS. It's real smart it reads actual signs, but if the car can see the signs so can I. I did wonder and I asked my dealer if this capability could also set the upper limit for adaptive cruise (ideally with control of +-MPH), if it could I'd be more interested. I understand with the advanced tech pack we have all the cameras required to read the signs, if thats the case what processes the reading of the signs? Is it an additional module or does it use existing on board computing power, perhaps this can be added by VCDS/VAG? All said if I invested in the heads up, then I'd most probably choice this option from the start.
I suspect the majority of A6's are 2.0tdi's with token options vs the collection of options you have, together with the 20% off list we all seem to get right now, I hope this stands our cars in good stead for resale when the time comes. In the mean time enjoy the toys.
Re: The time is now - A6 ordered
From what I understand few options can be recovered in cost when you sell the car - the options make the car more 'attractive' vs a car without the option. I think the exception these days on cars like the A6 are leather seats (standard in the UK anyway), sat nav (standard), metallic paint.
Other items such as heads up display, night vision, etc - you will never recover the costs...
So my advice is enjoy using the options when you have the car.....
In my previous car some of the options I had were - blind side indicator - flashed a LED light in the side mirror if a car was in the blind spot - interesting - but soon stopped noticing the LED light; Heated and cooled seats - I must have used the cooling seats maybe twice in the four years I had the car....
So when I ordered my Audi - I was careful to order options I knew I would use..... I think the only options I omitted, that I now regret is the 75l tank...that was an oversight on my part....

I totally agree. The situation I have specifically in mind is being able to achieve dealer forecourt price on a private sale, because the extras make it more attractive and the risk of buying privately is much reduced with a one owner car with less than average miles and remainder of the warranty. Of course this is more true of a 12 month old car than a 5 year old car.
It will also be interesting to see if the BiTDi holds more appeal a few years old, mostly because there will be considerably fewer sales than the 245, and a few years old they will become more favorable.
Of course caring for residuals is important, but frankly if this was top of my list I'd be buying a 2.0tdi, because the deals on those are simply phenomenal.
