Possible Multitronic problem?
Hello, I have a 2007 Audi A4 S-Line 7-speed multitronic with 40k on the clock.
I purchased it yesterday but when driving home the following problem occured....
I was driving around 70mph in 'S' mode, slowed for a bend and when attempting to speed up to 70 again it kind of did nothing... It was in 4th and would not go past 3000 revs, I shifted into manual mode and still it would not go past 3000revs and for every upshift i lost 500 revs. When I would put my foot down I would get a whoosh of air (presumably the turbo? I have no mechanical knowledge) but I would not get the pull with it. It was last serviced at 32k, I don't know if the gearbox oil has been changed as it has only just reached the milestone, could a low level be causing this? It was not in limp mode. When I turned the car off and on again it sorted the problem but its obviously something I want to know now so I can take it back to the dealer or claim on the warranty.
thanks.
Re: Possible Multitronic problem?
You need to take it back asap and get them to diagnose the problem.Mileage seems too low to be the box but sounds serious and you should not be hearing turbo .Are you certain about the low miles?

As above. Make sure that the gearbox oil has been changed, if not Audi will walk away from any responsibility. It is unlikely to be have done with the 32k miles service. A new gearbox is around £4500 fitted. Don't be fobbed off as it could be expensive.
Re: Possible Multitronic problem?
Seems the OP has not posted back on what the outcome was.
I was going to ask if Audi had sorted out the multitronic problem by 2007 but it would seem not possibly ?
Can anyone comment on this ?
I have a mate who is considering a A4 B7 and was wondering if a 2007 multitronic would be a reasonably safe bet or is it best to stick to manual/tiptronic only ?
Re: Possible Multitronic problem?
This did seem very odd and I think they are OK if serviced correctly. If you want to be safe avoid and try a tiptronic with Quattro
Re: Possible Multitronic problem?
hi there please advise
l bought an audi a6 2006 3.2 fsi automatic medium miles on board to be honest is the worst car l ever had the gear box is proper bad needs time to think what needs doing l thought that is going to be a great car but is not l like BMW better is absolutely 100% responsive the gear box the engine all car.
Please advise if this car got gearbox problems when pulling off is a bit jerking indifferent how slow or hard going on acceleration any one have this experience when in reverse is like slip in (please forget the double clutch type manor thing that you have to live the gearbox to engage cause am always do) with this type of cars or this is knackered should l get rid of it presumably the repairs (if is that the case will be a fortune) and am not happy to spend more on it also the engine management come on quite a lot but ........goes off after a while
