Water in spare wheel well

Whilst impatiently waiting for my car to copy the Nav data over from the DVD to an SD Card today I decided to have a look in the boot (curiosity). When I lifted the carpet up to look in the spare wheel well I noticed that the battery cover and the top of the spare wheel were covered in drops of water, I couldn't see any water at the bottom of the well, neither could I find any evidence of water anywhere else (carpets dry etc).

For clarification, it absolutely chucked it down all day today, the car had done a short run to Tesco and back but no further.

I can't figure out why they would be wet, any ideas?

For some odd reason, my boot carpet doesn't sit flush with the end panel in the boot so everytime the boot is open, and it's raining, it always seems to all run down into the spare wheel well.

Not massive amounts but nothing a bit of kitchen roll doesn't sort out ;)

Keep an eye on it, could be nothing to worry about.

It could be that the seal around your boot lid is damaged or not sat on the rim properley. Also, if you open the boot and look next to the rear light clusters, you'll notice that there's a plastic trim panel that covers the gap between the light and the body of the car. I had mine off recently to remove condensation from the cluster and the trim panel is a pain in the **** to get back on so that its flush with the water channel. Just check that its sat properley as this could be the entry point of water

I've had another look today and the water is still there exactly as it was yesterday, it actually looks more like condensation than the fact that there's actually been any leaks. You'll probably be able to see it on the photos I've sent you Chris. There's absolutely no sign of any water underneath the spare, or that there's ever been a collection of water there.

I'll keep an eye on it and update this thread if it gets any worse, thanks for your help fellas :-)
