Pressure Washer
I needed to give my decking a clean as its not been done in 3 years.
I decided to borrow a pressure washer rather than use chemical cleaners.
I did not know just how effective they are.
Have a look at the pic on the link
Because of the size of the spray at a height that worked. (1.5 inches) this took me two days. (about 5 hours)
The size of the decking is 7.2m by 2.4m

Re: Pressure Washer
They are also good on slabs which can get slippy
Imagine what it would do to your skin.

Re: Pressure Washer
There was that as well, we had ivy growing up our brick coal shed. so when i took it all down the other year, it left the bricks on the shed looking quite green.
Not anymore
I keep looking around finding other things to wash.:D
The garage wall will be next.

Re: Pressure Washer
Rather than borrowing.... i got a decent one from B&Q for £30 which has ample pressure to do the job..

Re: Pressure Washer
it was a proper borrow, not a borrowed but not paid.
It will go back and I shall be investing in one.
The thing that concerned me was the amount of water it was using.
Can you use a water butt with rain water in it?

Re: Pressure Washer
Yes you can, make sure the washer has a filter on the inlet pipe though! Also, the more volume (litres per minute) along with pressure (psi) the more you will wash off in one go.
Get something decent like 8L/min@1750psi or better

Re: Pressure Washer
Thanks. I feel a bit better about getting one now. Running it off the mains seemed wasteful.

Re: Pressure Washer
My Mum bought one a few years back and started to cleaned our back yard with it. After about 20 minutes she complained it was taking ages and didn't seem to make much difference.
Turned out the fuse had gone in the extension lead and it had never actually been turned on :-)

Re: Pressure Washer
dunno if i'd run one off a water butt as i thought they had to have a pressure in the supply as the pump in it is not meant to suck water, it is for pushing water out.

Re: Pressure Washer
I borrow my dad's sometimes, I can't recommend the floor cleaning attachment enough. It's like a sprinkler head inside a box. It leaves swirls like a milling cutter if you go too fast, but does an 8" wide stripe perfectly, if you go slower. The bonus is it's like hoovering so even the missus can do it...
