Drivers Seat Help needed

:aargh4:Driving my wife's Passat last night there was a very loud bang from underneath the drivers seat:confused: after stooping and investigating I found a large spring with a number of pieces of broken plastic. The seat still works OK back & forward and up & down. I have had a look under the seat but can find nothing. I am a bit reluctant to remove the seat owing to the side airbags. Has any one come across this before and can offer any help:1zhelp:.On another prob with the car she has had the usual probs with the front suspension after changing one or two parts for the problem to occur again I took the bull by the horns and ordered from Germany a complete new set of suspension parts at a cost of £140.00 delivered in 36hrs:D and my local garage fitted them for £100 and no probs for the last 10k. I must be a bit mad as I am getting my wife a newer Passat the latest model but a Tdi, I have had Passat's for over 25 years in fact my current car is a GL5 Estate 85 which I have had since new and still going strong

Hi there. What age is the car?. It could possibly be a seat belt pre-tensioner that has let go. Are there any srs lamps lit on the dash?

Did you get anywhere with the broken seat. Sounds like my Golf GTI MK4 just did the same thing.

Sorry never got it fixed as a local garage said I needed a complete new seat!!! and I did not what to spend that type of money and as the seat still worked OK I left it as it was and sold the car on and it is still working OK so there seemed to be no need for the parts that came adrift.
