Hi, my offside front spring snapped yesterday after hitting a pothole. I can't afford a new replacement at the moment so am looking for an entire second hand strut/spring assembly. My car is a '99' Quattro Avant and I was wondering on which other models/years are the same assemblies fitted. Breakers yards will say they're all the same, but I wanted to clarify on Here so I don't end up with a car that looks like a door wedge. Many thanks. Rich
What is the engine/gearbox code for your car? In the service book or sticker in the spare wheel well.
I'll look in the morning, but could I ask what relevance the engine/gearbox code would have on a front suspension strut?? Intruiged..Quote:

Right, there are a lot of different springs for this cars, dependent of veight group ( e.g. OJL,OYR and so on ) and suspention code ( e.g. 1BA, 1BB and so on) but there are usually a color code painted on the springs,
wich makes it a lot easier to pick the right spring....

As Ametlib said - you are going to provide weight group/suspension code or look at the paint marks on the springs. With that we could pick the right spring.
