Parking brake light allways on but it works OK, what is the problem?
2005 TDI Passat, 136k miles. Manual saloon. The parking brake light on the left dashboard dial is allways on. On the right hand dial the ABS and traction control light is allways on. The code reader suggested the rear offside ABS sensor
was at fault. I replaced it and and those lights went out but only for 20 seconds or so. So what is the problem? Or is it a mixture? My gut feling tells me it is all connected to the parking brake issue. If the parking brake is working what else is there to check that makes this light stay on continually?
All responses will be greatfully appreciated.

It should be abs connected especially if you have hill hold, before you spend out it's worth simply cleaning the sensor.

Post your scan so others can see what's being reported now
Were codes cleared after changing ABS sensor?

Try this, its free:(This first didn't work for me)
unplug the battery for 10 minutes then plug it again then press the brakes for 35 seconds
after that, while pressing the brakes press the e-breaks for 10 seconds..
then the cars computer will restart and the problem will be fixed !!
OR (This worked with the exception of the ecb dash light that extinguished at the first auto-release)
1. Unlock car
2. Unplug negative terminal keeping keys out of the way and leave unplugged for 10 seconds or so.
3. Reconnect
4. Lock car
5. Unlock car
6. Insert key to light up dash but don't start car
7. Remove key
8. Lock car for 10 seconds
9. Unlock car
10. Insert key but don't power up
11. Unlock park brake with foot on brake YAY!!!
12. Power up
13. Warning lights may be on (anti skid control, tyre pressure, steering etc)
14. A quick drive round the block should correct the above if not into VW for resetting.
One more thing, on disconnecting or reconnecting the battery, do it once, i.e. only one spark! Be firm.
