Brake pad warning light staying on after change?
I have just changed my front pads (last weekend) and the pad warning light has stayed on the DIS,the pads both had wear sensors on them and I WD them before plugging back in,I have a friend with an OBD reader that shows no issues,my question is "Should the yellow warning light go off straight away or does it take time to reset ?" I don't remember this happening on the last change of pads, Cheers Darren
Re: Brake pad warning light staying on after change ??
the light should go off straight away. this is indicative of an incomplete circuit on one of the sensors, possibly front, possibly rear.

Thank you, the rears havn't got wear indicators though,iv had it scanned for codes tonight and nothing showed up,are the sensors in the pads ?
Re: Brake pad warning light staying on after change ??
Take off the plug between the brake pads and the loom, start on the passenger side and clean well. check that the wires coming to the plug are undamaged. There is no sensor as such when the pads wear down the complete a circuit and the light comes on. It's unlikely but not impossible that the pads are at fault, were they spurious or OEM? You should be able to "cross" the plug with a paper clip or similar and put off the light that way
Re: Brake pad warning light staying on after change ??
Hi,Many thanks for the info,it was the connection on the front nearside, when I removed the old pads the wire fron the old pads had corroded and become undetatched, after refitting new ones the connection wasn't good enough,so I removed the wheel again, closed up the contacts from the loom end, squirt of WD and hey presto-no light !! Thanks for your help everyone !!!!
