MOT 6 years & 100k
Well my baby's due her 4th MOT now and she's booked in for next Friday, so we'll see how it goes I guess.
She's pretty well looked after and anything she needs she pretty much gets, but she's 6 years old now and has done 100k miles!
The last 3 MOT's all went very well and only the cost of the test was needed.......I wouldn't say I was awash with money but even a fairly hefty bill could have easily been covered.
So things change and the economy bites......times are tougher for most everyone and I'm no different.
I'm hoping for the best ( as per the last 3 tests...lol ) but fearing the worst.
As usual on Thursday she'll be cleaned inside n out, engine bay cleaned and interior smelling fresh. All bulbs / lights etc will be checked and fluids topped up as required before she goes in for testing.
I'm a believer that a clean, loved n looked after vehicle is more likely to sail through with much more ease than one that looks neglected, if you follow my drift.
Its always worked well for me over the years.......I'll let you all know how it goes:beerchug:

Knowing how you look after your motor she'll be fine Jim ;) ...
All the best for happy "MOT Day" :fing02:...

Re: MOT 6 years & 100k
Well guys, It was MOT day today........
I prepared yesterday just doing a brief check over the car, checked all the lights, horn, indicators, wipers, brakes etc ( just a quick glance over ) and then gave her a good wash & dried her off, alloys cleaned and tyres blacked with the interior smelling lemony fresh.
Took her down this morning at 9 am after driving a few miles to warm her up and get to temp.
Around 45mins later I'm told she's PASSED with no advisories for £35
Got a few complimentary remarks from the tester too about her being one of the better looked after cars for year & mileage, which was nice.
4th time she's sailed right through.......well chuffed to say the least. :approve:

Re: MOT 6 years & 100k
It'll soon be MOT time again, 7 years and around 110k by that time I'd guess.
I'm thinking about the suspension, although I haven't really had any issues, had my drop links replaced a little while ago at around £100.
I'm wondering about the rest of the setup at this mileage?
I think if I go ahead with the work I've outlined in my other thead Remedial work to my A6 I may ask them to do a health check and see what, if anything they come up with.

Re: MOT 6 years & 100k
None of your remedial stuff will be a fail....however it means that by spending a little now you may have to spend less in years to come.
Mine's the same age and the only things I need to get done in the next few months is:
1) Power steering flush and refill - booked in 5th Dec at the same time as having my winter tyres put on (£50 for both with local garage)
2) AWD service - apparently needs specialist tools and fluids but have no idea what these are! (searched forum to no avail)
3) Tranny fluid change - Had filter fluid changed this year but am changing the fluid again so as to make it a 97% change after 10k miles
Both my A6 and my Jag flew through their MOT...even better was they were booked in advance off one of those 'coupon' offers and paid £19 for each! :biglaugh:

Re: MOT 6 years & 100k
Hey Mark, I know none of my remedial stuff will be a fail, its just me getting annoyed at having several items outstanding and wanting to get them done / dusted out the way.
Booked in for Thursday for them to have a root around some of the issues and give me pricing for certain things as well as a quick health check.....won't go amiss after all.
I'll know better where I go from there

Jim
Your MOT isn't due until next March right?
What are the driving temps up there, 11 degrees down south but am guessing 5 degrees cooler up by you?
