Hello, i have been having a problem starting my 1.9 2006 tdi b6 passat when warm for a few days now, managed to get it scanned today and here is the result:
Would this cause the problem? and can they be replaced easily? or even where is it? Any advice greatly appreciated

Re: camshaft position sensor fault
It's behind the top cam belt cover next to the cam wheel, Check the wiring in case any is damaged.
Re: camshaft position sensor fault
May be some thing like happened to my 19tdi pd polo.Reluctant to start when hot, constant cranking of the engine drops the battery voltage and can throw up intermitent faults ie not real faults.after a full week of checking and diagnostics and a new cam sensor that failed to sove the problem, the starter motor was groaning under the extra work so i gave it a service and gave it a try, sounded good.whilst warming up the engine and doing scope checks on sensors i heard a pop,the egr valve had poped shut, had it been stuck open.I took it off gave it good de-gunking checked it worked ok (a good sucking on the pipe) all ok.put it all back together warmed up the engine, stopped it left it a minute tried the hot start condition"F I X E D".BEEN OK FOR 2 DAYS NOW,TOUCH WOOD.
Re: camshaft position sensor fault
A live data scan would have told you the egr valve was stuck open.
Re: camshaft position sensor fault
Thanks martin,I must update my vcds to the full version and learn a bit more on how to use it,but would the egr stuck open have caused a no hot start condition.

With the egr stuck open the engine doesn't get the correct air/fuel mix so it may well cause starting problems.
