Engine pinking
Hi All.
I have posted before on this though can't find the post.
My engine is making a rattly metallic type of noise under acceleration in fourth and fith gears.
I am using as high an octane fuel as I can get.
I am now thinking that if I used a quality oil would this help my problem ?
At the minute I am using Carlube semi sinthetic as it was cheap.
Maybe if I used something like Castrol ?
Marko.

Haven't had the car plugged in. It would have to be an independant and I dont know what I should get them to read.

Re: Engine pinking
they will know what to do, but basically scan for engine fault codes. you could have a knock sensor gone down. any pinking and the ecu will retard the timing. in fact , to optimise performance it keeps the timing roughly at the point where its just not pinking. old cars with distributors did this with bob weights pretty well, but an ecu does it more complicated. if your problem is pinking, then it does sound like something is wrong electronically.

Re: Engine pinking
HI, you could of had a doggy fill up - bad fuel can cause all this - if not engine timing to advanced.:beerchug:
