golf climate control

hi everybody,just joined your forum.i need some advice from any one out there.just paid a garage £170 to have it repaired.the garage kevin webb in norwich just wanted more money to continue looking at it,I think it might be the control panel but am unsure any help gratefully received.panel comes out easily but dont want to buy a new one unless im sure it is that

I would try one from a scrap yard, also get the fault codes read to see whats up. did the garage do this?
