Best hands free kit with combined iPod connectivity?
So,
after several PM's with A8 Tech, I've decided that trying to get Bluetooth working on my MMI Basic is going to be too much hassle for a pretty basic Bluetooth system, and getting iPod integration is only going to be mroe hassle.
I think I'm going to go for one of these when they are released, which hopefully won't be too long:
Parrot - Parrot ASTEROID Tablet
Does anybody have any pros or cons, or any experience with fitting after market phone kits to their A6?
Thanks :)
Re: Best hands free kit with combined iPod connectivity?
Hmmm..... this doesn't appear to be the best answer, either :(
Apparently unless I have an Auxiliary Input on my system (does anyone know if I do?) then the Parrot will only output to 4 speakers via its built-in amplifier.
This means it will not play on all of my current speakers and will by-pass the Audi amplifier.
So back to square one, unless anyone has any better ideas?
Thanks
Ross

Welcome to the reality of the four rings! ££££
That parrot gear looks great :biggthump... what a shame about AUX input requirement :(
You must of considered the Dension offerings? Link:- Compatible Products
Little bit of info on MOST Links:- SSP 286 Part 1 SSP 286 Part 2
The way the electric (networking) is done is intelligent... CAN Bus, MOST Bus, etc... but a pain to break into to do meddling and expensive dedicated modules...
How easy it used be add an AMP Link:- Audi A6 (C6) Avant power amp and speaker upgrade
Re: Best hands free kit with combined iPod connectivity?
Hey Gup,
Yes I have considered the Denison gear and it may be I still have to go down that route.
The problem with going Audi Bluetooth/Denison route is that I'd have to change my complete MMI panel (centre console below gear stick) to be able to use phone functions.
So I'd need the Denison Gateway 500, a new MMI panel and someone who knows how to put them all together!
I was hoping that the Parrot thingy would do it all in one go but obviously not.

So you have the basic'ist basic MMI... :(

Yes, I have paupers MMI :(
Which didn't bother me, as I just thought I'd get something like the Parrot fitted!
Damn and blast it!
Re: Best hands free kit with combined iPod connectivity?
So I'm guessing that due to pricing of upgrade/hassle it's better to go MMI High...
Your best bet is to keep eye on ebay sometimes I've seen a full MMI upgrade kit for pretty decent money...
Only problem is they can still be ££££ then there's the hassle of fitting yourself or getting someone to do it :(
These cars are so complicated :( ... I now think my next car maybe a retro one :) ...
