VAGCOM Fault Codes - what do they mean? - is she gonna blow?????
Hi.
I've got a 2005 (55) Passat 1.9 tdi 130 estate and as a total novice with VAGCOM, I have done a scan and found the following 4 errors, one of which I kind of understand (Sometimes the door's C/L doesn't open it and it takes a couple of goes) but I'd really appreciate any help in explaining exactly what they mean (In terms that a six year old would understand ) and what parts / action is needed to rectify. Also, what detriment if the "Repairs" are not done immediately.
Many thanks in advance.
Here's the faults:

Seek and yea shall find.....Ross-Tech Wiki
17664/P1256 - Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit (G62): Open / Short to B+
Possible Symptoms
- Difficulties with starting a cold engine.
- Diesel: an indication is extreme long time burning time of the glow indication light.
- Starting the engine when engine is warmish or warm, idle rpm immediately is 1200 - 3000 rpm.
- RPM at idle is irregular.
- With all engine temperatures seldom idle rpm will vary between 900 - 1000 rpm.
- With engine warm (90 °C) the engine temperature suddenly drops (70 °C) and slowly comes back to 90 °C.
- Bad acceleration during warming up.
Possible Causes
- Wiring and/or connections faulty
- Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62) faulty
Possible Solutions
- Check wiring and connections
- Check / Replace Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (G62)
Special Notes
- In MY 1995-2002 (?) in Europe at VW-cars the G2/G62 had the bad reputation of breaking down often. The default G2/G62 is black and all replacements are green.
00792 - A/C Pressure Switch (F129)
Possible Symptoms
Possible Causes
- A/C System Malfunctions
- Over or insufficiently charged
- Refrigerant System blockage
- Insufficient Air Flow to Condensor and/or Engine Radiator
- Wiring to/from A/C Pressure Switch (F129) faulty
- A/C Pressure Switch (F129) faulty
Possible Solutions
- Check A/C System for Malfunctions
- Check Wiring to/from A/C Pressure Switch (F129)
- Check A/C Pressure Switch (F129)
01274 - Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71): Faulty
Possible Causes
- Wiring/Connectors from/to Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71) faulty
- Positioning Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71) blocked
- Positioning Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71) faulty
Possible Solutions
- Check Air Flow Flap Positioning Motor (V71)
- See Measuring Value Blocks (MVB)
- Perform Output Test
- Perform Basic Setting
- Check/Repair Wiring and Connectors
01135 - Interior Monitoring Sensors: Open Circuit
Possible Causes
- Wiring/Connector from/to Interior Monitoring Sensors faulty
- Interior Monitoring Sensors not installed
Possible Solutions
- Check/Repair Wiring/Connector from/to Interior Monitoring Sensors
- Check Interior Monitoring Sensors Installation
00930 - Locking Module for Central Locking; Rear Left (F222): Implausible Signal
Possible Symptoms
- Door Locks not working properly
Possible Causes
- Wiring/Connectors from/to Locking Module for Central Locking; Rear Left (F222) faulty
- Voltage Supply for Locking Module for Central Locking; Rear Left (F222) faulty
- Door Lock Mechanics are stiff/partially seized
- Locking Module for Central Locking; Rear Left (F222) faulty
Possible Solutions
- Check Wiring/Connectors from/to Locking Module for Central Locking; Rear Left (F222)
- Check Voltage Supply for Locking Module for Central Locking; Rear Left (F222)
- Check Door Lock Mechanics/Operation
- Check Locking Module for Central Locking; Rear Left (F222)
Re: VAGCOM Fault Codes - what do they mean? - is she gonna blow?????
The software version monitoring code is often when the dash has been recoded for fixed interval servicing, it throws up an odd engine code.
Re: VAGCOM Fault Codes - what do they mean? - is she gonna blow?????
The door locks are rubbish on the 2005 Passats, replace with an earlier version off Ebay or the scrap yard.
Re: VAGCOM Fault Codes - what do they mean? - is she gonna blow?????
For the door lock issue, open the door peel back the rubber gaiter by the hinge, on mine the gaiter had failed leading to corrosion (connector was green), needed new connector, gaiter and loom, now fine.

I see you have an 02 Passat, I have one also, it has given me no problems with any of its locks over the 4 years I have had it, the 05 Passat has given me hell with 3 out of 4 locks failing inside 9 months. I have replaced the locks with ones from 02 cars and no problems since. The later version of lock is rubbish, you can tell them apart as they have a black cover as opposed to the green on the earlier locks. The motor is mounted on 2 copper buss bars, the torque twists the motor causing arcing on the copper contacts, I tried cleaning and refitting, it lasted 6 months then back to hell!
On an 05 Passat I would bet it is the lock not the wiring!
see here for arcing on contacts

and here for absolutely crazy motor mounting (look ma no brackets, it relies on pure faith)

Cutting costs is never good when you have to rely on faith alone! I had a similar problem with the wires on my old Passat on the same door, but they were just not connected for some reason - it didn't have a connecting block even, so I put them back together again which made it work - I'm just hoping that my 02 Passat is a little more water tight as compared to the bath that was my old car - at least I know what to look out for.
