concert - volume
Hi,
ive just recently got a 1999 a4 tdi and one problem (rather annoying one) is that the volume control doesnt work. When you turn the knob, it either comes in really loud or quiet.
Ive heard this is a common fault, has anyone else experienced it? is there a way to fix it without buying a new unit?
cheers
Paul

Re: concert - volume
Hi Paul, I see you haven't had much of a response... That's a shame because I have a similar problem :(
This is in a '99 Avant and the volume from the Concert stereo is either loud or VERY LOUD!! Now the volume knob itself functions because I can adjust the bass/treble/balance and fader fine. I've managed to get round this so far by adjusting the 'power on vol' as described in the manual, but as soon as you touch the volume knob it goes back to stupid loud.
Anyone have any ideas ???

Re: concert - volume
Thanks for that ;) I did search but didn't see that one !
Looks like i'm not alone... think i'll just put up with not touching the volume knob.
Shame, as this is the first oem stereo i've had that i didn't want to rip out for an Alpine !

Re: concert - volume
Hi,
i've got the concert 2 stereo, and i had this on mine. I pulled the volume knob off, sprayed the contacts in the stereo with WD40 (with straw attatched) and been fine for over a year now.

Re: concert - volume
a easy way round is to get a tape adapter with a aux wire coming out, plug ur ipod in and use the volume on ur ipod it works a treat and a tape adapter is about £10 i hav the same problem and notice in the summer it works when its hot, and in the winter it gets worse!
