BOSE sound system in an A6 Avant

I have the BOSE sound system in my car and find that the base is a little bit lacking (I am comparing the sound to my previous car a Jag XF with the B&W sound system).

The B&W on the Jag was rated at 440W, BOSE at 600W... while I know that watts is not always a reflection of sound quality, etc. I do find the BOSE does not sound as powerful as the old B&W systems I had - in particular I find that the bass is lacking..

I wondered if the sub-woffer was not working - but when I looked for it, I could not find it.... anyone know where the BOSE sub-woffer is?

I have a A6 Avant and could find it in the spare wheel area....

have you adjusted the settings in your MMI?

Yes - I have the sound optimised for all passengers, treble at mid point and bass at about 75% which improves the sound somewhat, but no where near what I had in the Jag where all the setting (including the sub woffer level) set at the mid point.

Now come to think of it I didnt see a woffer level setting on the MMI for the Bose....

There isnt a sub woofer setting for the bose upgrade, but the woofer itself in the avant is the big odd shaped thing wrapped around the spare wheel, its huge so cant be missed.

There is an earlier thread where this was discussed, and i think had some pics.

There is a B&O kit on german ebay for £2k if you fancy upgrading!

Thanks for pointing out where the BOSE sub woffer is - I had a look and now that I knew what I was looking see it.... yesterday the sound seemed to get better - not sure if it was me getting more accustomed to the sound or if the speaker system in the car is getting 'broken -in' - in the same way that a hi-fi system need a bit of running in before it sounds it's best...

is your car brand new?

Yes - got it Monday morning, so 4 days old..!

get 24/48 hours of the speakers playing music and see if they improve after that

My Bose took a good 2-3 weeks to run in and sounded much better.

Hi, how are you finding the BOSE performance now you have driven the car a while?
