Re: Audi A4 B6 Engine blown
hi,
sorry to hear your bad news. If you were to scrap the car then provided you have somewhere to store and strip the vehicle, there is a ton of money left in your car. You could sell headlights, interior, wings, doors, glass etc, starter motor, alternator.... you get the picture. Best place to sell these will be ebay.
Re: Audi A4 B6 Engine blown
Why replace with an AVJ?? If you want to replace the engine why not stick a 190 in it? That's what I would do. Search eBay you can get engines for £1,500 all day long on there.
In my experience (only done it to 2 Cars) if you strip a car down you end up selling the good bits (eventually!!!)and get left with a pile of scrap that is worth nothing! I will admit I've not done it to an Audi so may be different. I done a Fiat Punto and a Ford Fiesta, But what I got was only about £200 more than the scrap man offered then I had to put all the man hours in to strip them, store them and then get rid of the useless parts after, so wasn't really worth it. I personally think its only worth while If you have a lock up and plenty of time, and you are doing it to a few cars not just the one!
Is it just the 1.8Tse with the 150bhp AVJ engine? You can pick those up for £2,00-£2,500 if your willing to look so you need to think if it's worth throwing that kind of money on a car that won't return you much more, you could sell the interior, wheels etc and put that money towards the price of the new engine and pick a complete car up for the same money.
Re: Audi A4 B6 Engine blown
AVJ: Well I have been told due to "wiring" it has to be an AVJ. It is a 1.8T with 163bhp. Car was in great nick until this mishap with full bodykit etc.
I may well get it towed back and sell some parts off it I reckon. I may only make 200 more than what scrap man offers. Just seems like one big waste....:(
Re: Audi A4 B6 Engine blown
i would fix it if you like the car, i know the costs involved are steep but what are you going to spend to get a new car and possibly buy more problems. Or fix it and sell it. As already said engines come up all the time on ebay for less than 2.5k. You will have all the ancillaries on the blown engine to keep as spairs also.

If you are going to strip it down i would say "Stick the engine in it!!!", It's a nice little project, and once it's done you will have a new found love for her as you've put so much time and love into getting her back on the road.
But..............If not, then whats the interior like? mine needs a little tart up :)
Re: Audi A4 B6 Engine blown
even look out for an accident damaged car with the same engine and buy the whole thing. at least then you can check the engine is ok, and remove the sump for a clean before it goes back in.
Re: Audi A4 B6 Engine blown
Look at this on ebay. A4 A6 BFB ENGINE 1.8 T REBUILT & FIT 2 YEARS WARRANTY | eBay

Re: Audi A4 B6 Engine blown
