Do all tyres have to be the same type?
I know may sound like a silly question but i've blown a tyre, and i'm haveing great difficulty in tracking down the same make. Is there any laws that say you have to have the same tread on all four cormers (its a quattro) or say just the front two? Or can i just put a different tyre on (same size obviously)
Thanks in advance

You just have to have tyres with the same rolling radius on each corner.

Sorry i not really up on this at all... what your saying is as long as the wheel + tyre is the same i'm all right to use different tread patterns? Is this right?
Re: Do all tyres have to be the same type?
You are OK, however as different tyre patterns will have different properties (grip levels etc) there is a greater chance of skidding. Try not to mix different tread patterns on the same axle if you can. As has been said it is not illegal though.
I am not sure how ESP systems handle this.

If you buy a tyre which is silmalir quality to the ones you have got on you will be fine..

Which tyre do you need? Maybe someone here can locate it.
Try;

www.blackcircles.com
As said different tyres have different make up in grip etc.
It was known on the Cavalier and Calibre 4x4 to break the 4x4 system using odd tyres - the diffs sort of fight each other as the odd tyres are behaving differently. Not heard of this on the Quattro system though!!

Tried em both but although the nice woman from 'my tyres' rang around all of there suppliers, then rang me back, niether could get hold of any.
I have though managed to track the same tyre down off a seller on fleebay, and its new.
Re: Do all tyres have to be the same type?
