Rear window wiper...
I was just driving around this afternoon and for some reason the rear window wiper started operating. It wasn't it's normal intermittent speed, it was constant. It randomly then stopped in the centre of the screen. This is the second time it's done this, most of the time it operates normally.
Dodgy wiring? Wiper replacement??

Does your rear wash still work?
The pipe may have split and fried the motor with the washer fluid.

It didn't work when I first got it, although the garage where I bought it from fixed the issue. Is the boot trim easy to remove and how could I tell if the motor was shot?

Re: Rear window wiper...
Boot trim is fairly simple. £20 was well spent on a haynes manual just for learning how to dismantle the interior trim with-out breaking it. Have you got VCDS? Might be worth doing a scan on the central convience unit for errors? As I recall from memory, the wiring diagram for the tailgate is that the CCU provides 12v+ to the wiper motor. I'll go and have a look when I get home.

Re: Rear window wiper...
Had a look at the wiring and if your handy with a multimeter you can check the wiring at least. Thought it was the Central convience unit driving it, but I was wrong and its the central electric unit
Wiper motor connector is wired as follows:-
Pin 1 - Brown - 0v Earth
Pin 2 - Blue/Purple - Signal to/from Central Electric unit behind steering column (PIN 17)to switch internal relay in wiper motor
Pin 3 - Black/Purple - Signal to/from Central Electric unit behind steering column (PIN 14) to switch internal relay in wiper motor
Pin 4 - Black/Yellow - 12v live from Fusebox (F36)

Rear window wiper...
Well I was driving home this morning and the wiper motor caught fire and filled the car with smoke!
So I've been dismantling the car since 5:15 and basically just need to removed wrecked motor, although proving difficult, even with all bolts removed. Any ideas how to get the arm off?
Also does anyone happen to know the part number for the motor I need or where I could source one cheaper than what Audi would ask for a new one?
It's for a A4 avant B7 55 reg.
Many thanks.

Rear window wiper...
Ok right so I've got the part number...
8E9 955 711 C, now does it have to be replaced with one with the same number, as some have different letters at the end of the number.

Re: Rear window wiper...
The 10th digit/letter in a part number is its revision usually. It's when you get onto things like slip rings that theory goes slightly to pot!

Rear window wiper...
So I should almost certainly be ok with revision E then?

Haven't got access to etka at the mo, but if it looks the same then happy days!
