Damp in the car

After the bouts of heavy rain and warm weather I have noticed an awful smell of damp in the car these days.
What are the most common points to check where water could be getting in? Do these models have the same issues around the pollen filter letting water into the passenger footwell or elsewhere, or is there a common place the pipe can break running the water to the rear window wash?

Lift bonnet, pull the rubber seal that goes across the top of the engine bay & lift the plenum chamber cover & check for ingress of water/leaves.

I had loads of issues with my old A3 (previous model) with water in the passenger footwell. Everyone kept saying it would be under the air filter or plenum chamber but it wasn't!
In the end it turned out to be coming in uner the windscreen. Check that the back plastic a the bottom of the windscreen (under the wipers) is affixed prperly. If its lose, thats your problem. All I did was get some clear silicoln sealant (bathroom type stuff) and run it along the top and bottom of the black plastic and it worked a dream.

Cheers. Only got around to checking this now. There was no water up in the plenum chamber but I'll get a look tomorrow at the plastic part.
I also discovered that my spare wheel had an awful lot of condensation on it, as did the wheel well.

Check the bootlid seals & also make sure rear wiper is working properly, also check for any brown staining inside the bootlid plastics as thats a sign of wiper motor issues common.

If it's not your hatch seals and your rear washer works, your rear light seals have probably perished.

Related - you might consider putting a dehumidifier in the car if you have access to one to try and help to remove any excess moisture once you've found the problem?
These little silica gel packs are also quite cheap and a good way to help reduce moisture in the areas you need...........simply put them there and let them do their work!
You could also look at changing your pollen filter and running a Comma A/C cleaner through the system, this will leave a nice lemony fresh smell once the dampness has been removed. If you're not removing the carpets etc a good clean and wipe down with Zoflora disinfectant will definitely help to kill the bacteria causing the smell and leave a nice fragrance behind too.

The washer is working ok so I'm just going to seal up all the other things mentioned and then do the freshen up thing. Not one vw or Audi have I ever had that doesn't let water in. Thanks all for the help.
