Rear door won't open from the outside.....
As above, the rear passenger side door on my 2004 Mk5 won't open from outside, after the the doors have locked/un-locked. Once you open the door from inside, it then opens fine from the outside! That is until you lock/unlock the doors again..........
I did tighten the cable that goes from the handle to the lock mechanism, to take out a bit of slack in the cable, but this hasn't made any difference.
So I'm assuming it's something to do with the central locking but not sure where to start.
Re: Rear door won't open from the outside.....
probably the lock itself is abit stuck or the c/locking solenoid
try cleaning them both up see if that works
Re: Rear door won't open from the outside.....
Thanks. Where do I find the central locking solenoid - that's NOT located within the door lock, is it?
Also, someone else has told me it may be the 'door module' - what's meant by this ie is it the same as the cental locking solenoid, and is it true if you fit a new one, it has to be coded in (to the CCM presumebly)?
Re: Rear door won't open from the outside.....
You have to remove the door skin to get access to the lock unit so whilst it is out fit a new one. One very big causation, keep the door skin screws in the correct order.
Re: Rear door won't open from the outside.....
FIXED! Replaced the door lock unit and all is now fine.
