Fitting RNS-E to 2012 A3 Sportback Sport
I have just purchased a 2012 A3 Sportback and want to retrofit a RNS-E Sat Nav system. There is a double DIN Concert radio fitted.
Has anyone done this? How easy is it? Does it need extra coding? Where is the best place to buy the RNS-E unit?
The car has basic Bluetooth.
Many thanks in advance.

Re: Fitting RNS-E to 2012 A3 Sportback Sport
You will need to code it tbh for full bt compatibility, also your radio antenna system will be degraded because the antenna system was changed in late 06-07 to seperate system, so concert, chorus & symphony used 1 system & the rns-e used another, dont ask, audi & there bean counters, this can be converted of which I can do if you're interested.
If you have Bose & auxin, this will need rewiring aswell.
I travel all over the UK & offer supply/fit services for this if of use, PM for further details.

Hi NHN, I am looking to get a RNS-E unit mk2 and wondered what you fitting charge would be? I am in Berkshire and have an Audi a3 2011 black edition with Bose...I just think there are two many things to get wrong :S

You just need to move it's location in the quadlock, I don't have Bose but I know thats all thats involved.

Firstly thanks NHN for your messages, but I had already ordered an RNS-E. This turned up today, so thought I would try and fit it....but as you can expect i got stuck very quickly...
I was wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction... I have an Audi A3 late 2011 with Bose and Concert Head unit (it had 3 connectors in the main block and then an aerial type connection (2 round connectors)). I am looking at the pin outs of the blue connector and it looks very different to what the RNS-E needs. I haven't even looked at the other connectors yet.
Here is the Concert Pin Out for the blue connector:-
1 - AUX-R
2 - SDI CD-L
3 - SDI-CD-R
4 - CDC
5 - Data In
6 - CLOCK
7 - AUX -L
8 - CD SDI
9 - AUX
10 - +UB CDC
11 - BOSE
12 - DATA OUT
The SatNAV RNS-E
1 - N.C
2 - CDC - NC - GND
3 - N.C
4 - U14R-2
5 - K-Line
6 - CDC - Data Out
7 - BOSE
8 - CDC - NF L In
9 - CDC - NF R In
10 - U14 ST CDC
11 - CDC DATA IN
12 - CDC DATA CLK
It seems i have to do more than just the BOSE pin...i have seen convert cables on Ebay. Do I need to get one of those?
Any help or pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks
