There seems to be no power on driver's door?
No elctric windows, no child safety lock, central locking misses this door, etc...
weird?
checked all fuses: seem fine.
any ideas please?
Thanks.

Broken wire/s in the loom where it passes from the car into the door.
Hmmm, seems a fairly common problem.
Have you fixed similar? is it easy (ish)?
It's not too bad if you have a little experience with tools. A few hours would sort it.
Hmmm, had a look and thought that I might break something. So I've left it my mechanic today... let's see if he can find the problem.

Oh dear, my mechanic just called and has deducted that it's pointing towards a faulty control unit where moisture might have entered the box in the rear right hand compartment in the boot.
Because there is "sound" getting to the loud-speaker in the door, it suggests that there is some power in the door, but not on the windows, central door locking, etc,
Does anyone have any views on this? Sounds like a seriously expensive repair job. Can one find 2nd hand control units to fit?
Hi. Speakers in the doors have their own wires, those mightn't be damaged. But there's two main wires that power up all electrics in the door, ie central locking, electric window, lights. I've had same problem few weeks ago and had sound from speakers, but nothing else. I took wiring loom out and there were 2 thick wires broken, brown and red/black. I've cut them and soldered in pieces of wires about 6-7 inches long, insulated them with heat shrink, put back together and problem was sorted, everything works as it should now
It is VERY common, and VERY easy to check, doesnt take long to fix, i did mine by just peeling the sheath back, but id reccomend taking the loom out of the door as i think my solder joints have broken again.

Thanks Gents,
I reckon this is all very helpful and I'll give it to my mechanic. I hope it is the loom - the control unit sounds expensive.

You don't want to know how much a new loom is either...! Get it repaired and done properly.
