Replacement Keys

hi there im a new audi owner and recently picked up a r reg a4 estate 1.9tdi 110. the key i have got looks standard with a plip on the key ring which has seen better days but still works. i wondered if i could replace the two with a modern key with the electronics inside the key ?
i have included picture of the key and fob, i see lots of keys on ebay but not sure what key i should be looking for or how much these go for ?

If anyone can offer me any advice regarding repalcement keys i would be grateful.

your best bet is to ask carl eshrules on this one

You have the older style keyfob and immobiliser, the later more modern looking fobs wont works as the immobilisers and central locking systems are different.

Hi there rob, and golf gti, does anyone still do these keys or am i going to have to go a main dealer, the fob is being held on to the keyring with a bit of tape at the moment and dont really want to loose the key. Do even the older style keys have chips in them or do you need the fob to stick with the key ?

well all the fobs i can see on ebay are all the modern ones, does anyone know a company who may stock the old plips i have got ?
Would a main dealer still stock the old plips i have got ?

yes the main dealer will have them, you may find a good automotive locksmith may have a replacement item as well.

it is possible to get the old style blip bit to work inside the modern style fob.

I saw a post on this and someone did it. i'll search and post accordingly.

sounds good that a dealer might be able to replacement keys, but does anyone recognise the plip on my keyring ?
does it look like and audi one or an after market one ?
i can post a bigger picture if required
