Golf 1.6SE Engine Cutting Off ?

Can any one help me please. I have a Golf 1.6 SE "T Reg" when I approch a junction and press clutch and breaks the engine cuts off but the dash board lights are still on electrics are fine no hazard warning light on the dashboard or anything like that. Happens on the first 2 or 3 junctions then It's OK. Happens everyday though.

I had this problem before in my old 1997 Golf

What fixed it was tightening the clutch cable, dunno if it will work for this though
