Smashed my sump!! :(
Hi guys!
Well i smashed my sump last night! Not impressed :(
Im gonna have a go at changing it this weekend, got the part from euro car parts for £38
Anyone have a guide or know where i can find a guide to help me do this?
Looks like i have to drop the engine to do this, is that correct? :O

Re: Smashed my sump!! :(
I believe you have to drop the subframe too.
There's a few posts on this over on ClubB5, a search over there should help you out.
If you could perhaps do your own HowTo to post over here that would be great.
I love how the part you want is £39 yet the labour/fitting process is so painful!
Good luck

Re: Smashed my sump!! :(
Snap!
I just smashed mine too! Lost a fight with a speed hump, & paid £86 for one from local main *******. Anyway, the subframe does need to be dropped (Support the engine with a hoist first!) & remove the front bolts only, then pull the subframe & anti roll bar down - don't remove the rear bolts, otherwisethe wheels will need aligning afterwards. Also, the front bumper needs to come off & the front panel needs to be unbolted & moved forward into the service position. It's a long job but straightforward, apart from the rear sump bolts. Tip: use an allen key for the rear bolts, there is a recess in the middle of the bolt head & they are difficult to remove fully with a socket - I found out the hard way! If you're unsure, a Haynes manual covers this task comprehensively. Good luck!

Re: Smashed my sump!! :(
The two bolts at the back of the sump can be accessed with a socket if you turn the flywheel round there is a cutout for this..
It is a bit of a pain to remove the sump...
