Drivers door interior handle and switchgear

Hi All,

I have just bought myself a 'V' plate TDI SE and need a couple of parts to bring it back to my standards.

The drivers door interior grab handle assembly (with all the window switchgear, etc mounted in it) is scratched to buggery, looks like a previous owner had more rings on than H Samuels!

First question, is it easy to seperate that part from the door card?

Second question, do i have to replace it from an interior of the same spec or can i buy one from any Passat and swap across my switchgear (as i assume not all Passats come with 4xEW)?

Lastly does anyone have one lying around in good condition or do i need to start trawling the likes of ebay and motors in motion>

The switch pops off quite easily.

If you look at the grab handle (the bit just down from the switch gear) you'll see it has a removable cover on the inner side. Prise that off (using a screwdriver covered in a rag) and the whole switch set just lifts out from the door - 10 minutes tops

Replacements again are on eBay. I have one from a Y plate B5.5 (facelift model) but it sounds like it's in the same condition as yours.

Personally I'd shoot VAGParts (see their section in our Supporting Companies subforum) an email for a replacement, but I'm biased ;)
