What do you think of the Audi A4 2.0 Tdi Quattro 170
I am thinking of replacing my Mk4 2003 Golf TDi GTi 150 with a A4 2.0 2005-2007 Tdi 170 Quattro - S Line or SE spec. Does anyone have any experience with the A4 2.0 Tdi Quattro. I am looking for a saloon car
What is it like on fuel consumption?
Is it reasonable to service
Is it better to drive than the Mk4 Golf Tdi 150?
What is the best spec to go for?
Will i see a performance advantage of the 170 engine over the 140?
Manual or DSG? - i drove a Mk5 DSG Golf and the gearbox took a few minutes to respond properly the car was cold
I would appreciate feedback on this topic
Regards

Having had Mk4 golf 150 and A4 170 tdi (non quattro), they both have there pros and cons. The golf is much more fun to drive and way better on fuel because its much lighter than the A4. However, the A4 is more refined as you'd expect with a better available spec and IMO the best looking 4 door saloon. But this doesn't come without its problems. Check the sticky on the injector failure, that is the main problem with that engine which most 170 owners on here have experienced.
I have to admit, i do to tend to drive more sedately in the A4 now, but it still has the poke when you need it. I've had the A4 remapped and on motorway you'd 45mpg at 70mph round town is more like lower 30's. I had the golf remapped also and i would say the golf just beats the A4 in acceleration and would regularly return 50mpg+
