Voice control on Bluetooth

Received my GTD today and can't quite figure out the voice control on the phone prep. THe car has the RCD510 in it so I am not even sure if voice control is part of the integration or not. Either way the button on the steering wheel and button on the roof do absolutely nothing... Any suggestions? Dealer are useless so not going to ask them.

Have you read the manual?

It doesn't work on the RCD510 without a bit of messing with connections and VAGCOM adjustments.

ah, wouldn't it be nice if the instructions just said it doesn't work with the RDC510....
What all is involved with making the mod, is it much work?

I don't think there is much involved (I'll have a look around to see if I can find the info) but I fell at the first hurdle, removing the RCD510 from the dash!

Add to which I don't actually make or receive that many calls I decided against it.

Asked a chap the same question over on DW as he fitted the latest bluetooth module to his RNS510 and was told it just needed a simple plug swap over - http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru...0&postcount=45

Glad it was the right link. According to this post by the same chap its pretty easy to remove the RNS -http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=2605524&postcount=30 wonder if its the same with the RCD. Will be discussing this with the dealers this afternoon when I pick up my new car, should be interesting to see what they say about it and if they are willing to swap the plugs over for me

Salesman said that the loom is different for the RCD510 compared to the RNS510 and that they wouldnt be able to perform any modifications. Don't know if its worth ringing up any technical vw line and asking them. Just seems daft that it could have had voice control out of the box but isn't wired up right
