Cold Idling Problem

Hello All,

I have a Bora TDi 130, and it has developed an idling problem in the last few days....

When cold and engine idling the car starts to shake as if the engine is going to cut out..then it'll be OK for a few seconds, then shake again. the shaking isn't violent, but is enough to cause concern.

The engine revs do not drop, and there are no abnormal sounds. When warmed up, everything is fine, apart from an occassional reluctance to accelerate 'properly', especially in second gear when there is a slight hesitation.

VW have checked MAF and fuelling...all declared OK. Could it be a dodgy EGR valve?...which leads me to my next question...Can the EGR valve be disconnected or cleaned?.. which would probably solve my acceleration hesitation problems?
