Audi 100 2.3E Jetronic start and idle problem
Hi, Does this ring any bells with anyone?
Both the cold start valve and the idle control valve are not being electrically grounded/controlled. Both components are otherwise fully servicable. Is this a symptom that points to a particular component being at fault? Can a lengthy check of wiring continuity be avoided? Where is it best to start? Where can I obtain a wiring diagram for Jetronic KE III with Lambda, on this car, that includes the cold start valve, the idle control valve and their links to their contolling device/s?
Grateful thanks for any comments.
Stu.

I don't know if this is relevant ?
I've owned a 2.0 Passat GL5, a 100 GL5E and a Coupe 2.2. All 3 used to turn over and over before they fired up, if at all! On all 3 I disconnected the cold start valve and found they started much better in all conditions. A VW/Audi specialist said that the 5-cyl engines didn't need over fuelling even in colder conditions.
;)
Re: Audi 100 2.3E Jetronic start and idle problem
Thanks for responding. The problem was due to an intermittant fault in the Jetronic KE III ECU. This has now been replaced with a reconditioned component and all is fine again. Regards S.W.

Hi and thanks. My 2.3E has a Jetronic KE III ECU etc. There was no chance of starting from cold without briefly grounding the cold start valve. It could only be started from warm (engine or weather) with CSV disconnected. Can't agree with specialist for this vehicle. Problem solved by replacing ECU.
