True MPG Fact Not Fiction
Hi Guys due to another theard :biglaugh:
I think we should measure are daily mpg and report conditons we drive in and daily Mpg
Example
Rappy
09/11/10
2.0 P.D Tdi 140 Dsg Sport 55 plate Current Miles 64,000.
Daily commute of 18 miles to work and 18 miles back
Travel time of around 40 mins in the morning. I would average around 42 mpg in the winter. In the summer I was hitting 48 mpg
8 miles at motorway speeds 10 miles in 40/30 mph
Travel time of around 1 hr in the evening. Lots of stop start traffic 38 mpg in the winter. In the summer I was hitting around 44 mpg
8 miles at motorway speeds 10 miles in 30/40 mph.
Basically loosing around 6 mpg compared to the summer.
Re: True MPG Fact Not Fiction
Great idea, especially for those comparing the diesel MPGs.. however I'll also add my figures into the mix, just to add an extra dimension. I haven't cared about MPG recently, but will see what I can get and log it here...
Re: True MPG Fact Not Fiction
I can't promise daily, but I'll try -
05/11/10
Three hour journey over a distance of 12.6 miles. Horrendous London traffic (as you can see from the time taken to cover the distance, which would have taken longer if I hadn't managed to get out and take another route home)
25 mpg - same journey on clear roads in the summer would have been 40 mpg.
I'll try and get a more sensible figure for the same journey later today.

Thx for this Rappy, but I'm going to stay out of it, I'm sure you'll understand after the other thread, user is asking if something is wrong with his car, and in come the dreamers to help fuel his mind with magic mushroom number's.
Your's look realistic btw, and before anyone says mines a manual, it makes no difference in top gear on a motorway between a man and dsg box, and a dsg is far more acurate than the human brain is on when to change up and down and not ride the clutch.
Cheers again Raps. :beerchug:

No prob's :approve: Please add your figures as I would like to compare as we have the same car. i would imagine yours is on lower side due to being a taxi. Unless you get airport runs :beerchug:

Here's mine:
http://www.spritmonitor.de/en/detail/416418.html
51.8mpg real (brim to brim) over the first 1300 miles, mixed driving mostly 20 mile commute on A roads with occasional shorter 2-3 mile trips into town and back. Not done any longer motorway runs yet. Generally seeing ~55mpg on the 20 mile commute and low 40's on the short runs into town where she's not warmed up.
The trip computer generally reads 5mpg high.
Re: True MPG Fact Not Fiction
Ok Rappy I'll do some for you.
Remember it is a cab though
Best I've seen on a 250 mile drive, 50 miles of it in ave speed cam areas, was 55mpg, that was me only no load.
On holiday, 500 miles overall, 400 of it @ 70ish and the rest spent in Cornwall mix of urban and A road was 42mpg overall, this was 4 up and boot full.
Daily use, if stuck in town and it's quiet it will be around 26-31
Busy - 32-35
Couple of long runs added in is 37-40
That is a 2.0 PD DSG Saloon Sport.:beerchug:

Yes I know what you mean :D shame about the islands :biglaugh:

10/11/10
Commute to Newport from Bristol, three times a week. 64 miles there and back, mpg I'm getting is 51.9 mpg doing 85mph. In the city I'm getting around 32.5 mpg! Mines a 2.0 TDI Sport..
Re: True MPG Fact Not Fiction
On a 25 mile journey to work, driving on the motorway at 70mph, I usually get 55-57 mpg. Drop it down to 60mph and it goes up to 60-64mpg. Mines a 2.0TDI 140bhp.
