Gauge cluster - gear selection

Just bought a '57 plate A3 Sportback 2.0 TDi (170) with manual gearbox. When previously test driving an '08 plate version i noticed the display suggests when to change gear for more economy - mine obviosuly has a slightly older gauge cluster which doesn't have this function - is it something that can be added easy enough?

(I'm new to the VAG scene so treat me gentle if this is a stupid question!)

You need to swop your instrument cluster for a 08 onwards version.

Possible but won't be cheap.

Cheers, think i'll give it a miss then! It's fairly obvious when to change but thought it was a nice touch that i would have done if it was easy enough.
